Band Logo

Band Logo
I chose to keep the original name of the artist as opposed to creating a new name. To add originality and my own touch to the digipak, I decided to use a different logo to represent Rihanna as opposed to the one she uses to publicise her own work.
I used the website www.dafont.com to gather a brief idea of the kind of logo I would like to create. Once I have decided on a suitable font, I will develop the logo using photo editing software such as Photoshop in order to make it look more professional.

Here are some vague ideas of fonts I will consider using:
After consideration over which logo I will choose, I think that the second logo will be more suited as it is representative of the lyrics and connotations of the song. The love hearts represent the feminine side of the song, aswell as linking with a female singer. This font is called Jellyka - Love and Passion.

[VERSE 1]

(0.30)I want you to love me, like I’m a hot pie
Keep thinkin’ of me, doin’ what you like
So boy forget about the world cuz it’s gon’ be me and you tonight
I wanna make your bed for ya, then imma make you swallow your pride

[CHORUS]
Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world…
Like I’m the only one that’s in command
Cuz I’m the only one who understands how to make you feel like a man

Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only one…

[VERSE 2]
Want you to take me like a thief in the night
Hold me like a pillow, make me feel right
Baby I’ll tell you all my secrets that I’m keepin’, you can come inside
And when you enter, you ain’t leavin’, be my prisoner for the night

[CHORUS]
Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world…
Like I’m the only one that’s in command
Cuz I’m the only one who understands, like I’m the only one who knows your heart, only one…

[BRIDGE]
Take me for a ride
Oh baby, take me high
Let me make you first
Oh make it last all night

Take me for a ride
Oh baby, take me high
Let me make you first
Make it last all night

[CHORUS]
Want you to make me feel like I’m the only girl in the world
Like I’m the only one that you’ll ever love
Like I’m the only one who knows your heart
Only girl in the world…
Like I’m the only one that’s in command
Cuz I’m the only one who understands how to make you feel like a man
Only girl in the world…
Girl in the world…
Only girl in the world…

Primary Research

Primary Research
In order to gain some knowledge as to what to include in my video, I decided to collate some qualitative date gathered in the form of a questionnaire from 10 members of my Media class that fit into my target audience criteria. I thought this would be the most effective way of finding out what my target audience would be expecting to see in a video of the drum and bass/electronic genre.

Research Questionnaire:

1. Are you a fan of the drum and bass/electronic genre?

2. What are the typical conventions that you expect to see in a music video of this genre? Think the different kinds of narrative you would expect to see

3. Would you expect to see meat shots of the band or artist frequently?

4. What kind of mise en scene would you expect to see in a video of this genre? Think costume, setting, props

5. What kind of lighting would you expect to see in a drum and bass/electronic video?

6. What kind of shots would you expect to see in a drum and bass/electronic video?

7. What conventions would you expect to see in a video of this genre?

8. Would you prefer the video has no relevance to the song, or the video has a narrative in conjunction with the lyrics?

9. Do you expect to see many transitions in this kind of music video?

10. Is there anything else you would expect to see in a drum and bass/electronic video?

Final Song Choice

I have chosen 'Only Girl in the World' by Rihanna as my final song choice. I decided on this song from a list of songs from a range of genres because aswell as being a personal favourite I thought the lyrics and up tempo beats of the song could be used to create an interesting and successful music video. The actual song name 'Only Girl In The World' has many connotations which I could include in my video.

Possible Ideas

Possible Ideas

Above is the link for the video Adagio For Strings by Tiesto. Although the song is from a different genre of music than my chosen track, I like the use of unrehearsed filming of a live audience dancing to the music. The large crowd adds an immediate bold atmosphere and I think this would fit well with my chosen song.

Above is the video for NYC Beat by Armand Van Helden. I particularly like the opening shots of the sunrise/sunset which silhouettes the bridge. I am aiming to create this kind of effect but with alot less cosmopolitan feel in my video.

Permission from Artists

Permission from Artist
To ensure I was not breaking any copright or infringement laws whilst using my chosen song, I decided to contact the artists by seeking permission to use the song in my music video. As I could not find an official MySpace or Facebook page linking to Pendulum, I decided to use the bands official website and contact them via the 'Contact Us' section of the website.

Below is a print screen I captured as evidence that I sought permission from the artists:
