Primary Research
In order to gain some knowledge as to what to include in my video, I decided to collate some qualitative date gathered in the form of a questionnaire from 10 members of my Media class that fit into my target audience criteria. I thought this would be the most effective way of finding out what my target audience would be expecting to see in a video of the drum and bass/electronic genre.Research Questionnaire:
1. Are you a fan of the drum and bass/electronic genre?
2. What are the typical conventions that you expect to see in a music video of this genre? Think the different kinds of narrative you would expect to see
3. Would you expect to see meat shots of the band or artist frequently?
4. What kind of mise en scene would you expect to see in a video of this genre? Think costume, setting, props
5. What kind of lighting would you expect to see in a drum and bass/electronic video?
6. What kind of shots would you expect to see in a drum and bass/electronic video?
7. What conventions would you expect to see in a video of this genre?
8. Would you prefer the video has no relevance to the song, or the video has a narrative in conjunction with the lyrics?
9. Do you expect to see many transitions in this kind of music video?
10. Is there anything else you would expect to see in a drum and bass/electronic video?
